Nebraska Implements “Ban the Box”

Nebraska is now the eleventh state to implement legislation banning employers from asking job applicants about previous criminal activity on job applications. In a movement now known as “Ban the Box,” applicants will no longer have to disclose previous criminal activity until their potential employer has determined that the applicant has met the minimum job requirements. Other states that have adopted “Ban the Box” legislation include California, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, New Mexico, and Rhode Island.
